UK Envoy to Nigeria Promises more investments.

Impressed with the ongoing transformation at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and investment potential in the economy, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Andrew Pocock, Wednesday assured the management of the exchange of further cooperation that would attract more UK investments into the country.
Speaking during his visit to the exchange, where he rang the closing bell, Pocock said the UK had been involved in the Nigerian capital market, trade and other forms of commercial activities for many years.
According to him, UK sees Nigeria as a country with great potential especially in the area of extractive industry, manufacturing and services sectors.
“And part of my job is to invite the companies to come  again, have another look at the Nigerian market, make up their mind weather to trade or invest here on the basis of what they see and not what they read in the newspaper,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the NSE, Mr. Oscar Onyema, has said trading activities on exchange’s new trading platform, X-GEN, would commence next week.
“We have had a series of market readiness tests, created a new market structure that is world class and are now making final preparations to cutover to our next Generation platform this weekend,” Onyema said.
Speaking in the same vein, the Executive Director, Market Operations and Technology, NSE, Mr. Ade Bajomo, said three market readiness tests were successfully executed over the past five weeks with a focus on the performance of the trading engine and integration of all interfaces including remote users coming in via the fix gateway.
“Brokers and NSE technical team were able to successfully place orders, migrate data, and complete a series of full dress rehearsal. It is exciting that we are able to execute and test all our tasks and are confident with the results,” Bajomo said.
Trading at the stock market closed on the positive note after two days of bearish trading. The NSE All-Share Index rose by 0.25 to close at 36,143.55.
