U.S senate commends NAFDAC

THE senate of the State of Georgia in the United States of America has passed a resolution commending the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Orhii, for his outstanding achievements in the use of cutting-edge technologies to fight drug counterfeiting.
The Georgia Senate resolution, which was sponsored by Senator Donzella James, was passed on September 13, 2013 in recognition and honour of Dr. Paul Orhii for “his many outstanding achievements and contributions to the world”.
Senator Steen Miles handed over the certificate of recognition to the NAFDAC boss at a colourful Award/lnvestment Forum organised by the African Leadership Magazine in Newyork City, USA.
Reading the Senate Citation at the ceremony, Senator Miles stated that the Georgia Senate noted that the Director-General “has been recognised by numerous organisations for his leadership and professional excellence and is applauded for his passionate work regarding the latest technology to fighting drug counterfeiting”.
The event also featured the presentation of Excellent Leadership award to the President of Seychelles, which was received by his Vice, Mr. Danny Faurer; Governor Ibikun Amosun and two others, as well as musical performance by one of the popular US artists, Tony Terry.
Vice President, Faure described Orhii as a man of intimidating academic credentials, standard bearer and role model for people of African descent and he maintained that the developmental strides recorded by Seychelles is a success story and pride for Africa.
Elated Dr. Orhii dedicated the award to the hard working NAFDAC staff pointing out that the overwhelming support of President Jonathan, Honourable Minister of Health, Prof. Christian Onyebuchi Chukwu, and the team spirit of officers of the Agency contributed to his success.
According to him, these various honours and recognitions would continue to spur NAFDAC towards achieving greater successes in its concerted efforts to rid the country of counterfeit drugs, unwholesome food and other substandard regulated products.
lt would be recalled that Dr. Orhii has so far received over 40 national and international awards/recognitions for his great works at NAFDAC.
