Minister Optimistic of NARD Suspending Strike Soon

The Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Nwogu, has expressed optimism that the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) would suspend its  ongoing industrial action after the association’s meeting scheduled for Monday.
Nwogu stated this in a statement by the Head of Press/ Public Relations, Mr Samuel Olowokere after a resolution jointly signed by the National President NARD, Dr Jubril Abdullahi, permanent secretaries of Federal Ministries of Health and Labour, Alhaji Sani Bala, and Mrs Chinedu Dike, respectively.
He said that a high-powered committee to be chaired by the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu would tackle  the challenges of implementing Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) as identified by the striking doctors during a “protracted meeting’’ with the association, according to News Agency of Nigeria report.
