National Assembly Urged to Re-consider Creation of Ijebu State.

Indigenes of Ijebuland in Ogun East senatorial district Saturday re-echoed their clamour for the creation of Ijebu State, urging the National Assembly to consider its  creation.
Coordinator of Ojude Oba Festival Committee, Mr. Fasi Yusuf, who spoke at Ijebu Ode during a press conference heralding the 2013 edition of the annual   Ojude Oba festival, said “we were one of the first groups in the country that submitted memoranda on the creation of Ijebu State to the National Assembly.”
He added: “We have chosen a very apt theme that addresses our collective resolve, determination and quest with the theme: Actualising the Creation of Ijebu State, we intend to drum up additional support for the creation of the overdue Ijebu State to enable us occupy our pride of place in the comity of Nigerian states. “
He noted that the constitution of Nigeria spelt out the requirements for the creation of new states, saying “it behoves on the National Assembly and the States of Nigerian Federation to give effect to our just and equitable demand.”
Speaking on the preparation of 2013 Ojude Oba festival, representatives of Globacom, an indigenous partner, Mr. Adeniyi Olukoya, promised to continue to support and add value and novelty to the festival.
