Plateau Speaker Outsmarts Jang, Survives Impeachment

The alleged concerted efforts by the Plateau State Governor, Mr Jonah Jang and some members of the State House of Assembly to impeach the Speaker, Mr John Clark Dabwan, Tuesday failed.
This was because    the lawmakers, who had just reconvened from their one month recess, could not summon the will to oust the Speaker on the mere allegation of poor leadership style.
The House, in its prolonged closed door executive meeting, which preceded the sitting, Tuesday failed to reach a compromise to carry out the impeachment, as members were divided among themselves over the  issue.
Newsmen and other interest groups, who had gathered at the press gallery to cover the proceeding of the House, which should have followed the executive meeting, were disappointed, when after several hours of waiting, the lawmakers, who could not gather the will to carry out their threat began to leave the meeting one after the other.
