The House has resumed into multiple probes. In a single day, it rolled out as many as seven investigations. It has mandated its Committees on Police Affairs, Federal Road Safety, and Justice to investigate the desirability of the Biometric Central Motor Registration (BCMR) by the Nigerian Police.
It has also mandated its Committee on Banking and Currency to investigate the alleged discriminatory policies by some commercial banks on customers.
Similarly, the committees on Finance Appropriation, Loans and Aids have been asked to conduct an investigation into the finances of the Federal Government to ascertain the status of the accounts of the federation.
The joint committees are to invite the Minister of Finance, Heads of Revenue Agencies, Debt Management Office and related organisations to appear and present to Nigerians the full status of the state of account of the country. This is against the backrop of the decline in revenue and the inability of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to get their usual handouts from the centre. We wish all the committees fruitful outings as they travel through these familiar route.
