Suntai in Church, Marks One Year of Air Crash Survival

The recuperating Governor of Taraba State, Danbaba Danfulani Suntai, caused an emotional scene when he stormed the Unity Chapel Church (UCC) in Government House, Jalingo for thanks giving at the weekend.
Suntai was pronounced dead when an aircraft he piloted crashed near Yola, the Adamawa State capital, on Thursday, October 25 last year.
He spent 10 months in Germany and United States hospitals for treatment, returning on August 25.
He wrote the House of Assembly of his readiness to resume duty but was stopped by the lawmakers on health grounds.
Last Friday was exactly one year since the governor and his Aide de Camp (ADC) Iliya Dasat, Chief Detail Joel Danladi and Chief Security Officer (CSO) Tino Dangana who were also on board the ill-fated Cessna 208 aircraft survived the air mishap.
The three aides who were treated in Germany were with the governor during the thanksgiving service. Also accompanying the governor were his wife Hauwa, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) GT Kataps and Chief of Staff, Aminu Jika, among other aides.
Suntai’s thanksgiving ceremony, according to the  News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), came a few days after he went out for a fishing expedition to shake off officialdom.
The congregation was all tears on seeing him. The tears of joy followed  the governor’s speech, which turned out to be the morning sermon for the worshipers.
“I thank God that I survived the air crash to see this day. I am happy to reunite with you again,” Suntai said.
He thanked Taraba residents for their prayers on him which he said have helped him.
The governor preached forgiveness and asked everybody whom he said he may have offended to forgive him.
“Do not hold anything against your enemy or anyone at heart. For me and my family, we have forgiven all our adversaries,” he said.
Suntai said what God has done and shown him, even if he drops dead today (on Friday) he would die a fulfilled mortal.

The Pope on Twitter

Rome – Pope Francis broke the 10 million mark on Twitter on Sunday after more than doubling the number of his followers since his election in March.
“Dear followers, I understand there are now over 10 million of you!” Francis wrote on his account, @Pontifex. “I thank you with all my heart and ask you to continue praying for me.”
His immediate predecessor, Benedict XVI, had about 3 million followers at the end of his papacy. Benedict began the papal Twitter feed in December.
Francis, however, has a way to go before he catches up to Twitter’s most-followed, who are primarily pop music stars. Justin Bieber counts more than 46 million followers, Katy Perry nearly 46 million and Lady Gaga more than 40 million.
US President Barack Obama is the fourth-most-followed Twitter user at nearly 39 million.

Jonathan Leaves for Pilgrimage, Official Visit to Israel

President Goodluck Jonathan will today embark on holy pilgrimage to Israel.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, Jonathan will meet with President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset.
According to the statement, talks between the president’s delegation and Israeli government officials are expected to focus on the enhancement of bilateral relations between Nigeria and Israel in areas including trade, economic development, infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, communications, culture, education and tourism.
Also Jonathan is scheduled to meet with the President of the Palestinian National Authority, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas.
The president who will be accompanied on the trip by Senator Emmanuel Paulker, the Minister of Agriculture and Rual Development, Dr. Akinwunmi  Adesina, the Minister of Water Resources, Mrs. Sarah Ochekpe, the Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen, the Minister of State (Foreign Affairs), Prof. Viola Onwuliri, and the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.
While the president might meet and interact with some other Nigerians, who are already on  pilgrimage to Israel, Abati said the reports he was leading 19 state governors and about 30,000 Nigerians to Israel was a misrepresentation of facts.
“Irrespective of President Jonathan’s visit, thousands of Nigerians visit Israel annually during the pilgrimage season which goes on for months and they will undoubtedly do so again between now and early next year.
“It is entirely fortuitous for some of these Nigerian pilgrims therefore that their visit to Israel this year will coincide with President Jonathan’s,” he said.
Jonathan is expected back in Abuja early next week.

No Way for Same-sex Marriage, Nigeria Tells the World

In  Geneva, Switzerland
Nigeria has again rebuffed the calls by some western nations to recognise same-sex marriage.
The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Bello Adoke (SAN), while addressing the Human Rights Council of the United Nations at the 17th Session of the Universal Periodic Review in Geneva, Switzerland, said Nigeria did not accept the recommendation on same-sex marriage because it was against the country’s national value.
He said Nigerians’ moral and religious obligation forbade same-sex marriage and that to accept the recommendation to legalise same-sex marriage would amount to staging a coup against the people.
According to him, recent polling data suggests that 92 per cent of Nigerians support the Anti-Same-sex Marriage Bill passed by the Senate.
He said: “The Marriage Act defines marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman. Christianity and Islam are the major religions in Nigeria. Same-sex marriage is not in the culture of Nigerians.”
The AGF said sexual and gender minorities were not visible and there was no officially registered association of gays and lesbians.
Adoke said Nigeria had no policy of witch-hunting people based on their sexual orientation.
After his presentation, many countries including Norway, Canada and Czech Republic, ask Nigeria to protect the rights of same-sex people and to make sure that no legislation was passed to witch-hunt them
But Adoke said since 2009 when the Nigerian human rights situation was first reviewed, the country had recorded appreciable improvement in the promotion of human rights.
He said the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)  had been strengthened to tackle human rights challenges in the country.
The minister also cited the passing into law of the Freedom of Information Act as a significant milestone in the promotion of people’s right to know.

CAN Flays Aliyu over Comments on Northern Unity

The spokesman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), in the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Sunday Oibe, has accused the Niger State Governor, Dr.  Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, of causing disunity among northerners.
Oibe, in an interview on Tuesday in Kaduna, said there was no way unity could reign in the North, when leaders like Aliyu openly discriminate against Christians.
He described as farce the allegation by the governor recently that there was a plot to cause disunity among northerners ahead of the 2015 general election, saying Aliyu and some northern leaders, instead, were the very people working against the unity of the North.
According to him, the governor who has suddenly become the apostle of northern unity is the very person, discriminating against Christians in his state.
“The Niger State governor should stop insinuating that some people are causing division in the North. He is one of those causing the division with his discrimination against Christians. If he truly wants northern unity, let him start by correcting the imbalance in the political arrangement in the state.
“Before Aliyu became the governor of the state, there used to be a Christian as deputy governor. But when he became governor, he picked a Muslim as his deputy and the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly is a Muslim, in spite of the fact that there is a large number of Christian populations in the state.
“Yet the governor does not see the need to treat them fairly, and he is shamelessly preaching northern unity when he is discriminating against the Christians in his own state. He is the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NGSF), who is gallivanting and talking about northern unity forgetting that he is one of those working against the unity of the north.
“How can we be talking about one North and northern unity when people in leadership position openly discriminate against Christians?  These so-called leaders are the ones causing division in the North. Let them go and find out how the late Premier of the defunct northern region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sarduana of Sokoto, worked together with people like the late Chief Sunday Awoniyi, late Ambassador Jolly Tanko Yusuf and several other Christians with their religious and political differences,” Oibe said.
According to him, “a North that is purely for Islam is not the type of North that we want to talk together. It is difficult for northern Christians to speak with one voice for a North that some people see as purely for Muslims. It is not the North that we can talk about unity because every Middle Belter today is not seen as a northerner and Middle Belters don’t see themselves as northerners. So when they talk about the North, they are talking about Hausa-Fulani Muslims. They are not talking about other tribes.”
Oibe noted further that “in Kaduna State alone, we have about 53 different ethnic groups in the southern part of the state and Hausa/Fulani are just two tribes, yet we have a vice-president, who is a Muslim and whose majority of his appointees are Hausa/Fulani Muslims
The CAN spokesman further added that “how can people be talking about the spirit of northern unity with this glaring discrimination we see everywhere in the North. I believe that President Goodluck Jonathan now knows better, and nobody can deceive or mislead him in any way.”
He maintained that the North was fragmented and nobody should be deceived about the idea of one North.

Meet the Worshipper ‘THATLAD’

Thatlad (pronounced dat-lad) is a fast rising gospel musician from the South-South region of Nigeria. He is a strong believer in the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He is practically not new to the music industry as he has organised a worship program in the city of Port Harcourt for a decade now that has hosted Nigeria’s gospel music greats like samsong, Nathaniel Bassey, Eben, Iyke Onka, Frank Edwards, Freke, Afy Douglas and others.
Having spent this short while organizing outreaches which has blessed and changed the lives of many young people in the region he believes it is time to sing aloud God’s praise and worship Him in this heart-felt rendition, crying out to the throne of grace saying “Lord, you have done well today “imela nubochita”.
Thatlad believes strongly in worship and this propelled him to write songs that expressed his genuine love for God which was rightly captured in the lyrics of this great song “Imela Nubochita”.
An Igbo song which acknowledges the good of God and extols Him for being behind all the blessings of today.

He just released a new single which is trending rightaway.

You are Holy and worthy God,
To receive all praise,
You gave me life Lord,
My everyday is yours,
You’re the reason I live,
Is there a sound you didn’t give,
Any melody that isn’t yours,
I’m so grateful for your sound in me,
I thank you Lord, for loving me,
And teaching me your ways..

We bless you Lord you are holy,
Forever you are God.

We bless you Lord you are holy,
Forever you are God.

Deep thoughts

Read and try to understand the deeper meaning of them.

1. Prayer is not a “spare wheel” that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a “steering wheel” that directs the right path throughout life.

2. Why is a car’s windshield so large & the rear view mirror so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, look ahead and move on.

3. Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes a few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

4. All things in life are temporary. If they are going well, enjoy them, they will not last forever. If they are going wrong, don’t worry, they can’t last long either.

5. Old friends are gold! New friends are diamond! If you get a diamond, don’t forget the gold! To hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold!

6. Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says, “Relax, dear; it’s just a bend, not the end!”

7. When God solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when God doesn’t solve your problems, He has faith in YOUR reliabilities.

8. A blind person asked God: “Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?” He replied: “Yes, losing your vision!”

9. When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.

10. Worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles; it takes away today’s PEACE.

Let me pray 4 u.
(1) You will find favor with someone you dont expect,………Amen. (2) You will be too relevant to be ignored,………….Amen.(3) You will encounter GOD and will never remain the same,……….Amen. (4) The grace for completion will come on you, you shall be blessed till the blessed call you blessed,………..Amen.
Like and share this with loved ones, you might just be lifting a down trodden soul. God bless you!
